Teacher Spotlight: Amy Smith

We have some awesome teachers around here – we appreciate everything they do to support, challenge, and mentor our gifted community. Let's get to know some of them a little better! Here, you'll meet Amy Smith, a GT teacher at Carroll and Newman Elementary Schools. Amy is also the FGA Administrative Liaison.

(By the way, if you're a teacher and would like to connect with our gifted community, or if you know of a teacher who has a great message and story, please contact us. We'd love to feature more of our wonderful teachers here!)

My name is Amy Smith and I have been working with gifted learners for the past eight years after receiving my Masters in Gifted Education from SMU. I am intrigued and fascinated by the way a gifted learner thinks and I make it my goal to challenge that thinking daily.  I am truly drawn to and feel connected to the unique characteristics that are presented in a gifted learner. GT is my "happy place." I don't think a single day has passed that I am not blown away at the critical and creative thinking that is displayed in my classroom. I am blessed to work with these amazing kids!
